Growing up Rin Tin Tin was a name just about every child could have heard mentioned. The epitome of a valiant and smart dog. Rin Tin Tin was an icon within Hollywood and movies yet also a dog found in the chaos of war in World War I in Europe.
I did find the story of how Rin Tin Tin was adopted and came to the U.S. to become a legend. Please read about the ultimate military do who was a star.

Veteran's Day 2025
Yesterday was Veteran's Day. It was a somber day for various reasons, one that we had to say goodbye to Dervish (more about that in another post).
I did come across this article recognizing 5 important battlefields to visit. Bob and I have visited all five.
Yorktown Battlefield (Yorktown, VA)
Ft. McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine (Baltimore, MD)
Ft. Sumter (Charleston, SC)
Antietam National Battlefield (Sharpsburg, MD)
Gettysburg National Military Park (Gettysburg, PA)

Roman Roads

All roads lead to Rome…read about this may be true more than we think!
An international research team has created a new map of the Roman Empire — and it expands the ancient road network by more than 60,000 miles (100,000 kilometers).
The saying goes, of course, that "all roads lead to Rome." But while it's true that many of the Empire's major cities were linked via main roads to the capital, the secondary roads in the network had not been studied in depth, said Tom Brughmans, an archaeologist at Aarhus University in Denmark and co-author of a study describing the roads.

Ira Francis Lansberry

I found a photo in Ancestry.com that I had not seen before. It is a photo of my great-grandfather on my mother's side in the Lansberry side that I had not seen before. He is 28 years old here and with his two brothers and his mother. He is in the middle, right behind his mother, Eliza Jane Gravenor (1832-1907).
His name is Ira Francis Lansberry, born in Ghent, Kentucky, Carrolton area. Now a very lower middle class area along the river east of Louisville Kentucky. We drove through there. He married Frankie Belle Martin and moved to Fullerton, NE. I have photos of my great grandmother, his wife, at an older age and I met her when I was quite young. She died in Cheyenne, WY. I will have to do more exploration of information about him when I can.

Unlucky 13

Why is the number 13 considered unlucky and often feared by many? Is it due to the Nordic stories around the god, Loki? Or is it due to Jesus sharing the Last Supper with 12 Disciples?
This gathering of possibilities in an article will give one "food for thought". My phone number has a 13 in it so am I unlucky too?
