Vada at 2024 Halloween
My phone offered a free download of ChatGPT which I did. I had taken photo of Vada in her mermaid costume ready for Halloween. The picture when I sent it by email picked up her and dropped the background. A bit of a different look and experience.

Yesterday was eventually a rainy, dark day. It did start out with color to add some brightness to the day. A beautiful fall, October, sunrise.
Vinnie Ream as Sculptress
27/10/24 09:22 Filed in: History
During the American Civil War, a young, poor girl became an apprentice to a known sculptor. Her name was Vinnie Ream. She was given the opportunity to sculpt Abraham Lincoln and he almost turned down this down.
"Her greatest subject, however, was President Abraham Lincoln. It was an opportunity that nearly didn’t happen. Lincoln was not simply weary from the war and the recent death of his young son Willie, but he was also weary of being subject to various forms of artistry, whether photography, painting, or sculpting.
When the idea of sitting for his bust was suggested, Lincoln apparently replied that he “was tired sitting for his likeness, and couldn’t imagine why anyone wanted to make a likeness of such a homely man.” The matter was nearly dropped when Sen. Nesmith informed Lincoln that the artist was a poor young girl from Wisconsin with immense talent. The description of Ream affected Lincoln.
“She is poor, is she? Well, that’s nothing against her,” Lincoln responded. “Why don’t you bring that girl up here? I'll sit to her for my bust.”"
Her work was inspiring. The story is found in the Epoch Times where this could be linked but does require a subscription. The photo below is from the article.

Da Boyz and Soccer Day

Jesse's soccer team recently won their soccer division in Aberdeen SD. Jesse isn't the fastest though he does try to help as defense and goalie. We got to watch his team when we visited in May, not though during the last visit with just missing a game time due to travel. Here are some memories that David sent to us of the soccer season end.

Sunrise Over Vancouver BC Harbor

A week ago we arrived at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver BC, Canada. The hotel was lovely and our room was comfortable. They gave us a room with a view of the marina and the Vancouver harbor. We were able one morning to catch a beautiful sunrise over the harbor. It was striking and highlighted all the boats, Canada Place, the shipping container cranes, the mountains, etc. It was a wonderful place to visit and enjoy a conference. The food was enjoyable too!
Fun and Friends in Minneapolis

The 2024 AAFP conference was in Minneapolis MN this year. It was the 50th Anniversary of AAFP and the Saturday night event was a 70s Disco night.
It was fun. The music was quite well done and we did dance. Bob and I wore our tie-dyed T-shirts and got a picture with good friends, Drew Weigner and Jessica Quimby.

Local Fall Color Now

The local trees are starting to change color. There are two trees at my cousin's property across the street. Each year they provide a bright, striking contrast of red and yellow tints.
I captured a quick photo of this. Too bad the utility lines cross the view yet I needed to capture this now.
